In January of 2007, Councilmember Brown was appointed Chair of the Council's Committee on Economic Development. The committee is responsible for matters related to economic and neighborhood development, the disposition of public property, tourism, cultural affairs, international business affairs, and local business development. Brown was formerly Chair of the Council's Special Committee on a Comprehensive Policy for Local Business Development. There Brown built on his desire to establish opportunities for growth where residents continue to be the primary benefactors to the city's economic abundance.


Councilmember Brown serves on four standing Council committees: Finance and Revenue; Public Services & Consumer Affairs; Public Works & the Environment; Workforce Development and Government Operations.
